On Saturday, March 16, 2024, former President Donald Trump vowed that there would be a “bloodbath” if he was not re-elected in November 2024. Trump made this statement at a rally in support of Senate candidate Bernie Moreno.
The rally took place in Ohio to amass votes for Trump-endorsed Republican Senate candidate Bernie Moreno. Donald Trump’s speech at the rally aimed to gather attention, and it did. However, it wasn’t what he hoped. The former president sparked backlash with his comments, as many slammed him for inciting violence.
Donald Trump Spoke on Plans to Increase the Tariffs on Foreign-Made Cars
As earlier stated, the former president attended a rally in support of Senate candidate Bernie Moreno on Saturday. During this rally, Trump discussed imposing a 100% tariff on every car that crosses the line.
Also, at the rally, Donald Trump discussed the possibility of an increasing trade war with China over auto manufacturing. “If you’re listening, President Xi, you and I are friends, but he understands how I deal,” Trump said. “Those big monster car manufacturing plants that you’re building in Mexico right now, you’re not going to hire Americans, and you’re going to sell the cars to us, no?”
“We’re going to put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line,” Trump added. “And you’re not going to be able to sell those guys if I get elected.”

The Former President Hinted at a “Bloodbath” for the Country if He Doesn’t Get Re-Elected
Besides announcing his car tariff, Trump warned that the country would experience a “bloodbath” if he lost the election to President Joe Biden. “Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole,” he said. “That’s gonna be the least of it.”
“It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country. That will be the least of it,” he added. “But they’re not going to sell those cars. They’re building massive factories.” Furthermore, Trump said, “If this election isn’t won, I’m not sure that you’ll ever have another election in this country.”
Reaction From Biden and Trump Campaign
The former president’s statements triggered reactions across the country and from the opposition party. President Joe Biden’s campaign spokesman, James Singer, issued a statement following Trump’s remarks. He noted that former Vice President Mike Pence announced he would not endorse Trump’s re-election bid.
“This is who Donald Trump is: a loser who gets beat by over 7 million votes and then,” Singer said. “Instead of appealing to a wider mainstream audience, he doubles down on his threats of political violence.”
“He wants another January 6, but the American people are going to give him another electoral defeat this November,” the spokesperson added. “Because they continue to reject his extremism, his affection for violence, and his thirst for revenge.”
However, Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt reiterated the former president’s speech on the “bloodbath” for the country. She said, “Biden’s policies will create an economic bloodbath for the auto industry auto workers.”
Similarly, another Trump campaign spokesperson explained that Trump only talks about the impact of a second Biden term on the auto industry. “Crooked Joe Biden and his campaign are engaging in deceptively, out-of-context editing,” Cheung stated.
Donald Trump Spoke About Convicted January 6 Rioters
During the campaign for Senate candidate Bernie Moreno, the presumptive Republican presidential candidate referred to the people who are in prison for crimes committed in the January 6, 2021, attack as “hostages.”
“They’ve been treated terribly and very unfairly, and you know that,” Trump said at the beginning of his speech. “And everybody knows that.” “And we’re going to be working on that as soon as we get into office on the first day,” he added. “We’re going to save our country, and we’re going to work with the people to treat those unbelievable patriots.”
The former president also called for the jailing of lawmakers who took part in the House select committee that investigated the January 6, 2021, insurrection.

Donald Trump Discussed Undocumented Migrants
At the rally, Trump said some undocumented immigrants were “not people.” However, he claimed he was “not allowed to say that because the radical left says it’s a terrible thing to say.”
“They say, ‘You have to vote against him because did you hear what he said about humanity?’ he continued. “I’ve seen the humanity, and this humanity, these are bad, these are animals, OK?’ He also implores Catholics not to vote for Biden.
“Any Catholic that votes for this numbskull is crazy because you are being persecuted,” Trump said.
This was directed at President Joe Biden as he is the second Roman Catholic ever to be elected president.
